Prestwick - PAR 4 / 370-394-426-456

A tribute to the par four 9th hole at the original home of the Open Championship at Prestwick, just outside of Troon, Scotland. This original 12-hole course was laid out by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1851. Less than a decade later, he added six more holes and in 1860 local pro Willie Park won the first Open title, besting Morris and a group of talented golfers. Prestwick hosted the first eleven Open Tournaments, but was gradually bypassed by larger and more cosmopolitan courses, hosting its last Open in 1925.

The ninth at Prestwick will penalize anything less than two excellently played shots on this hole, which plays much more like a par five. It’s 456 yards from back tees with dense brush all along both sides. Players must confront a small green, which slopes severely downward midway through the surface..
