St. Andrews - PAR 4 / 368-398-446-471

Arguably the most single famous hole in the world. Known as the Road Hole, this par four 17th at St. Andrews has bedeviled golfers for centuries with its length, design and hidden dangers. Golfers must drive over an old shed off the tee to a largely hidden fairway. An actual road runs all along the right side with out-of-bounds further right.

Like many of the Scottish greats, the hole does not appear overly difficult at the start, challenging golfers to take several bold gambles, only to catch the most unsuspecting and cast them down to ultimate scorecard ruin. Golfers like Tom Watson have actually played from the road which runs behind the green. The huge Road Hole Bunker in the left front of the green has swallowed many a golfer, including David Duval in the 2000 Open.
