St. Andrews - PAR 4 / 296-338-345-359
A fitting, final tribute to golfs great history and tradition is the 18th hole at St. Andrews, as showcased by this sturdy par four. The burn runs right in front of the tee box with the famous Swilken Bridge where golfers traditionally pay their last respects to St. Andrews as they cross the water.
This course has seen more finishing hole drama than any in Scotland during the Open with players from John Daly and Tiger Woods winning, and Houstons Doug Sanders losing their golf championship dreams on this fairly short layout. The large sloping fringe area in front of the green is known as the Valley of Sin, where Italys Constantion Rocca made his historic 55-foot putt placing himself in the 1995 playoff. The back of the green is sloped to repel the ball back toward the flag, but there is thick grass and the traditional Scottish clubhouse lurking close by should the ball fly over the putting surface.
